Overview
Mark enjoys all aspects of intellectual property law and has developed a strong focus and experience level when it comes to helping clients obtain patents. From individual inventors to companies with hundreds of employees, Mark has proficiency in understanding a broad range of technologies and client needs to efficiently and effectively prepare and prosecute patent and trademark applications.
Mark has developed significant experience with various technologies, including medical devices and related procedures, the chemical and structural aspects of lithium-ion batteries, wind turbines, composite bridge beams, nutritional supplements, chemical catalysts, stem cells, hydrogen production, and high-definition projection coatings, to name a few. He has also managed a broad scope of international filings in dozens of countries and has functioned as a U.S. agent for foreign firms across the globe.
Mark has developed a strong intellectual property law skill set at a large and well-respected law firm in Indianapolis. At Reichel Stohry Dean, clients can expect to receive the same high-quality service and work product with the enhancement of focused, individualized attention – all at rates that are not possible at larger law firms. This value-driven approach aims to streamline the process and maximize satisfaction with the product.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Mark worked as a technology manager with Indiana University’s technology transfer office (IURTC, now the IU ICO). During and after graduate school, Mark worked with Indiana University’s Research and Sponsored Programs office, where he helped principal investigators secure federal and corporate grant dollars to facilitate scientific research. These experiences, combined with his four years working in the chemical and diagnostic industry prior to law school, make Mark very well-suited to understand the needs of researchers and inventors, in research institutions or otherwise, and to help them formalize their technologies and inventions within carefully written and strategically prosecuted patent applications.
Mark maintains active admissions and registrations in Indiana, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and the Northern and Southern Districts of the U.S. District Court in Indiana.
